ASSOU Campus Issue Survey

Since we work for you, help us determine which issues we are going to work on this year to make this campus a better place for students!

Please choose your status at the university and rate the priority level of following list of projects. The options are: Top Priority, Very Important, Get To It If You Can, Don't Spend Time On This, and I Don't Know Enough. Keep in mind that this will help us determine which of these projects ASSOU will aim to complete this year. Though we would like to complete all of them, we have one year to get as much done as possible. Thanks for your participation!

Academics

Ensuring that comprehensive tutoring is in place for all academic majors *

Increasing the global focus on campus (more globally focused classes, more opportunities for study abroad, more traveling resources, etc.) *

Ensuring that a developed and competitive honors program is brought to SOU. *

Increasing the availability of classes in my major *

Ensuring masters students have enough programs and classes to choose from and have access to all campus resources. *

Extending library hours beyond 11:00pm *

Securing a 24 hour space for students to study on campus outside of the dorms *

Ensuring more faculty communication with students on topics including syllibi, required or optional textbooks, etc. before classes begin *

Find alternative options for making textbooks more affordable for students *

Find ways to increase access and academic support for alter-abled students *

Student Life on Campus

Increase the visibility and knowledge on campus about the resource centers (Women's Resource Center, Queer Resource Center, Commuter Resource Center, and Multicultural Resource Center) *

Foster a greater relationship between family housing and the dorms *

Increasing bike storage on campus, especially near family housing and the science building, and other areas where there is none *

A new recreation center for students *

Ensuring that all events on campus are on one calendar, and that there is more collaboration between departments on events *

Lengthening the time that the SU is open *

Making it a requirement for all faculty and staff on campus to have ally/diversity training *

Working on student renters' rights in the Ashland area (at this point, a landlord can deny a student the right to rent their property simply because they are a student) *

Work on implementing a 'safe ride' program to increase student safety at night *

Start a shuttle service for students between Ashland and Medford *

Infrastructure/Institutional

Have conversations about improving the physical campus (building upkeep, landscaping, etc.) *

Increasing the availability of public transportation in the Rogue Valley *

Have a car/cars available on campus for students to rent out *

Build a closer relationship between SOU and community members and local businesses *

Hold forums and conversations about the possiblity of bringing blood drives back to SOU (blood drives are currently banned from the SOU campus). This may include lobbying the FDA *

Increase opportunities and awareness for diversity on campus *

Increase student awareness of what the university's priority issues are for the year *

Look at ways to improve physical accessibility to campus for alter-abled students *

Look at the feasibility of renewing the green tag fee and possibly introducing a blue tag fee to offset our energy and water consumption *

ASSOU Specifically

Work on getting more faculty members to allow ASSOU officers to come talk to classes once a term about important issues affecting education and students *

Look at why we have the highest student fee in the state, and examine the appropriatness of what the student fee is paying for vs. the University's general fund *

Make the student fee process clearer and more accessible for all student groups *

Create a more effective procedure to make sure that there is student representation on all university committees and city commissions *

Make it easier for students to get information about getting involved on campus *

Make ASSOU's rules more clear and attainable for all students, in order to prevent misunderstandings within the organization *

Build a stronger relationship between ASSOU and housing *

Build a student initiatives archive in the SU, so students can refer to past projects and events and see what students worked on before us *

Increase the visibility of ASSOU on campus (events, t-shirts and name tags for officers, etc) *

Remodel/Refurbish the Sours Leadership Center to be a more functional place for all students, especially to serve the needs of student leaders *

Put monthly all-assou meetings in place which all students can attend to increase collaboration between branches and student understanding of the organization *
